“…Further studies are needed of symptom clusters in perioperative patients with different gynecologic cancers that affect the patients' quality of life to enable early treatment or prevention. Within one week after surgery, fatigue was the most serious core symptom, followed by poor appetite, which was consistent with the results of previous studies [8,31]. There are numerous causes of fatigue, including poor appetite, which might result in inadequate dietary intake, particularly energy and protein intake.…”

“…The present study assessed symptoms using a 13-item core symptoms subscale and a five-item gastrointestinal cancer-specific subscale from the MD Anderson Symptom Inventory Gastrointestinal Cancer Module (MDASI-GI) [22]. The Chinese version of MDASI-GI has been translated and validated by Chen et al [23]. It consists of 18 symptoms, and the severity of each symptom is scored on an 11-point Likert type (0= "not at all" to 10= "as bad as you can imagine").…”

“…This scale assessed the symptom experience of gastrointestinal tumor patients over the past 24 h and was divided into 2 major parts: the first part contained 13 core symptom items and 5 gastrointestinalspecific items, the second part was used to assess the degree of interference with life from these 18 symptoms with 0 meaning "no symptoms" or "no interference", 10 meaning "the most severe imaginable", and the higher the score, the more severe the symptoms were in general (14). The validity of this Chinese version of the scale was verified, with Cronbach's α of 0.84 for the symptom severity scale and 0.86 for the interference scale (15).…”
