Validation of the repetitive and restricted behaviour scale in autism spectrum disorders

Abstract: Repetitive and restricted behaviours represent a common problem for various psychiatric syndromes, especially in autistic spectrum disorders, and they include a wide range of heterogeneous behavioural manifestations. An accurate and standardized description of these behaviours is needed to advance the understanding of this complex and heterogeneous clinical dimension of autism. The present article reports the reliability and validity studies of a new assessment scale: the repetitive and restricted behaviour sc… Show more

“…Considering RRBS ranges, we observed that even the highest individual scores remained very low, indicating very few repetitive and restricted behaviours. Thirteen patients had a 0 score for Factor 2, which has been shown to be the most specific for autism 20 . Two others had 1 and the remaining three had 4.…”

“… RDEG the regulation disorder Evaluation grid is a French scale of activity (96) that enables to detect the level of dys‐regulation, and the slowness of response of the infants (2). The Repetitive and Restricted Behaviour (RRB) scale (24) is a 35‐item standardized checklist that allows item rating on a 5‐point scale from 0—the behaviour is never expressed by the person—to —the behaviour is severely expressed and characteristic of the person). Factorial analysis produces four clinical meaningful factors, i.e.…”
