Validity and Reliability of Multiparameter Physiological Measurements Recorded by the Equivital Lifemonitor During Activities of Various Intensities

Abstract: The Equivital LifeMonitor EQ02 is a multiparameter body-worn system capable of logging and transmitting physiological data describing a wearer's cardiorespiratory and thermal status. A number of vital signs can be acquired by the system, including electrocardiography, respiratory inductance plethysmography, posture/activity, multipoint skin temperature, and core temperature. The validity and reliability of the multiparameter physiological data recorded by the EQ02 were assessed. Participants performed resting,… Show more

“…Cardiac data are sampled at 256 Hz and were analyzed with the VivoSense® software platform (Vivonoetics, Inc., San Diego, CA). The accuracy and reliability of EQ-02 heart rate and R-R interval collection during rest and exercise has previously been validated (30-32). The objective was to quantify HRV indices of parasympathetic cardiac control using measures from time, frequency and non-linear domains during the 5-minute periods of rest and gratitude journaling.…”

“…The CorTemp Sensor was attached to the participants clothing at the hips, whereas the Equivital unit was affixed to each subject's chest via a custom designed chest strap which positions the unit horizontally in line with the heart. Both systems have been shown to be an accurate, valid and reliable means of assessing physiological responses of the human body (Byrne and Lim, 2007;Liu et al, 2013).…”

“…The EQ02 provides valid and reliable T gi , HR and RR data during physical activity (Liu et al). 16 While less information is available regarding the Infrared thermometer used for axilla skin temperature, infrared thermometry is a valid and reliable method of skin temperature assessment. 17 Heart rate was expressed as absolute values and percentage of predicted maximum.…”
