Validity of Ruffier Test in Evaluation of Resistance to the Physical Effort

Abstract: The Ruffier test is used to evaluate the resistance of a heart to physical effort and is intended for adults. The aim of the research in this paper was to create a model of the Ruffier test adapted to school sport and physical education, i.e., for 6–16-year-old pupils. It was shown that two well-known models of correction of the Ruffier test to the age of young patients were in conflict and thus not reliable in the practice of physical education. Mathematical modeling and computer simulation were used in this … Show more

“…It should be noted that there is virtually no data on the functional reserve of the heart, according to the Rufier index, at specific ages and taking into account the sex of students. In this aspect, attention is drawn to studies and recommendations for differentiated assessment of the Rufier index according to the age of students [12][13][14]29]. And the gender differences obtained by us and other authors [8,19,21] of the Rufier index actualize the issue of differentiated assessment of the Rufier index according to the sex of schoolchildren.…”

“…Moreover, urine sampling was performed to assess oxidative stress using parameters like free radical concentration, specifically Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS) and Glutathione Disulfide (GSSG). This assessment offered insights into the temporal dynamics of oxidative stress in response to physical activities of different durations post exertion [30]. Urine sample collection was carried out in the morning before breakfast, referred to as baseline (T0); before putting on the equipment and performing the rope exercise, referred to as pretest (T1); and 90 min and 3 and 5 h after the end of the rope exercise, referred to as T2, T3 and T4, respectively.…”

“…The idea of our work is to take into account both the upper and lower indicators together by improving the Moshkov rhombus model and thus increase the validity of the asymmetry indicator in the frontal plane of the body relative to the scoliosis predictor indicator in first graders. It is clear that ensuring a sufficient level of validity of health tests is a serious problem in the theory and practice of physical activity of primary school students Zanevskyy et al, 2017).…”
