Variable Selection for Interval‐censored Failure Time Data

Abstract: Summary Variable selection for interval‐censored failure time data has recently attracted a great deal of attention along with the analysis of interval‐censored data in both method developments and practical applications. Interval‐censored data are a general type of time‐to‐event or failure time data where the failure time of interest is known or observed only to lie in an interval instead of being observed exactly. They often occur in different forms and in many fields, including demographical studies, epidem… Show more

“…For the interval-censored survival data without length-biased sampling, existing regularization methods have been applied for the Cox model (e.g., Du et al, 2021;Zhao et al, 2020), the transformation model (e.g., Scolas et al, 2016), and the conditional cumulative hazard function (e.g., Sun et al 2021). More comprehensive discussions can be found in Du & Sun (2021b). However, those methods cannot handle the PIC data.…”

“…Variable selection has been investigated by many authors for incomplete data such as right-censored and interval-censored failure time data (Cai et al, 2005 [14]; Fan and Li, 2002 [15]; Tibshirani, 1997 [16]; Zhang and Lu, 2007 [17]; Nasrullah Khan et al, 2018 [18]; Zhao et al, 2020 [19]; Li et al, 2020 [20]; Du and Sun 2021 [21]; Ali et al, 2021 [22]). By interval censored data, we mean that the failure time of interest is known or observed only to belong to an interval instead of being observed exactly.…”
