“…Friedel et al (3), however, demonstrated, that beside contamination with interstitial fluid and damaged tissue, obstruction of venous back flow caused the nonfiltrable plasma elements (e. g. protein) to become more concentrated owing to increased hydrostatic pressure. This phenomenon also holds true for tourniquet application in man (53). The "criticar enzymes especially are falsely elevated in plexus blood from guinea pigs (47) and rats (3, 47, 54-56).…”

“…Additionally, combinations of iron(II) and ascorbic acid concentrations were used: 18 µmol/L iron(II) with 60 µmol/L ascorbic acid (low iron/ ascorbate) and 590 µmol/L iron(II) with 1.2 mmol/L ascorbic acid (high iron/ascorbate). The low iron and ascorbic acid concentrations resemble human plasma (Statland et al 1976;Simon and Hudes 1999) and the higher concentrations were chosen according to the peptide/iron(II)/ascorbic acid ratio shown most effectively oxidizing peptides (Bollineni et al 2011). The Amadori peptide degradation was always completed within 30 min regardless of the reaction conditions, similar to the buffer condition described above.…”

“…Friedel et al (15), however, demonstrated that beside contamination with interstitial fluid and damaged tissue, obstruction of venous back flow caused the nonfiltrable plasma elements (e.g. proteins) to become more concentrated owing to the increased hydrostatic pressure, a phenomenon which also holds true for tourniquet application in humans (8). In fact, especially the catalytic activities of the "critical enzymes" determined in plasma from retroorbital plexus are much to high (17)(18)(19).…”
