Vehicle Fuel Economy Improvement through Vehicle Optimization in 1-D Simulation Cycle towards Energy Efficient Vehicle (EEV)

Abstract: The high average of fuel consumption in vehicle for ASEAN countries compared to global average has led to the establishment of Energy Efficient Vehicle (EEV) by National Automotive Policy (NAP) 2014. The current PROTON Saga 1.3L 4-speed automatic transmission (4-AT) recorded 6.80 L/100km. Meanwhile, the target setting for fleet average fuel consumption for the same segment according to NAP 2014 is 6.0 L/100km. Hence, it is crucial for manufacturers to reduce the vehicle fuel consumption to stays competitive in… Show more

“…Precipitation and high humidity cause accelerated corrosion of the body and chassis components [28]. Another element that may influence the service interval is the condition of the roads-not only in terms of the condition of their surfaces, but also in how they are maintained in winter [29] and the distance traveled between each engine start [30]. The choice of Poland and Kazakhstan as the focuses of this study is strategically justified based on their geographical locations and representation of distinct regions.…”

“…engine as much as possible to meet the regulation. Recent engine's key technologies such as gasoline direct injection, optimized intake and exhaust timing, exhaust gas recirculation, and bundled with extreme downsizing engines are promising methods in reducing fuel usage by improving their thermal efficiencies [1][2][3][4][5][6][7]. Generally, engines operate more efficient at higher loads due to the less throttling effect.…”

“…As a countermeasure to reduce the pumping losses, the throttle valve opening is required to be wider of respective engine conditions. Better matching of real engine load with optimum engine load can be obtained by applying cylinder deactivation [2][3].…”
