Vehicle roll stability control with active roll-resistant electro-hydraulic suspension

Abstract: This study examines roll stability control for vehicles with an active roll-resistant electro-hydraulic suspension (RREHS) subsystem under steering maneuvers. First, we derive a vehicle model with four degrees of freedom and incorporates yaw and roll motions. Second, an optimal linear quadratic regulator controller is obtained in consideration of dynamic vehicle performance. Third, an RREHS subsystem with an electric servo-valve actuator is proposed, and the corresponding dynamic equations are obtained. Fourth… Show more

“…Active Suspension Control (ASC) system can adjust body posture and improve body stability by changing suspension actuation force. At present, there are many studies on vehicle active suspension control 3,[23][24][25] . Usually, the half vehicle model or sevendegrees-of-freedom(7-DOF) vehicle dynamic model considering roll degree of freedom are used as control reference models.…”

“…In the existing studies, to prevent vehicle rollover due to excessive roll angle, the vehicle roll angle near rollover is taken as the control limit. The commonly used control algorithms in ASC research are sliding mode control 3 , Linear Parameter Varying (LPV) feedforward control 23 , Model Predictive Control (MPC) control 24 , optimization control 25 .…”
