“…To the best of our knowledge, the current work is the first to use a PICC line in rabbits for the purpose of a prolonged continuous infusion. Other studies involving a PICC line ( Allan et al, 2012 ; Zhang et al, 2014 ; Jamal et al, 2015 ; Aguilera-Correa et al, 2020 ; Huang et al, 2020 ), as well as CL ( Rodrigues et al, 2015 ) in rabbits have thus far only aimed to investigate the adverse outcomes of using these catheters, such as inflammation, infection, fibrillation, and thrombosis, by monitoring lesions and other histological alterations. While some of these studies have used the marginal ear vein ( Aguilera-Correa et al, 2020 ; Huang et al, 2020 ) others either indwelled the Basilic vein in the upper limb ( Zhang et al, 2014 ) or the jugular vein ( Jamal et al, 2015 ; Rodrigues et al, 2015 ) or inserted the PICC line subcutaneously ( Allan et al, 2012 ).…”
