Vibration analysis of FG rotating plate using nonlinear-FEM

Abstract: Purpose The purpose of this paper is to investigate the linear and non-linear free vibration of a functionally graded material (FGM) rotating cantilever plate in the thermal environment. The study employs the development of a non-linear mathematical model using the higher order shear deformation theory in which the traction free condition is applied to derive the simplified displacement model with seven field variables instead of nine. Design/methodology/approach A mathematical model is developed based on th… Show more

“…Thus, plenty of studies are conducted on the vibration characteristics of spinning plates. 810 Yoo and Pierre 11 presented a study on free vibration characteristics of spinning rectangular cantilever plates based on the classical elastic plate theory. Du et al 12 investigated the nonlinear free vibrations of a spinning plate attached to a rigid hub based on the cell-based smoothed finite element method.…”

“…In this area, Li and Zhang (2016) conducted a study for the free vibration of FG blades by approximating the structure with a rotating cantilever thin plate. Parida and Mohanty (2018) presented the linear and nonlinear free vibration of FG rotating cantilever plate based on higher order shear deformation plate theory (HSDT).…”
