Vibration Behaviour of Natural Timber and Timber Concrete Composite Deck System

Abstract: Timber–Concrete Composite (TCC) structure consists of timber joists or beams effectively interconnected to a concrete slab cast on top of the timber members. This type of structures has applications in multi-storey buildings and short-span bridges particularly in developed countries such as America, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. In Malaysia, these timber concrete composite (TCC) fields are extremely uncommon compared to European country. This paper is investigated the TCC deck system as a new slab structu… Show more

“…As observed in previous works [44,60]), the slip distribution is symmetric during the elastic phase of the connection, but it becomes asymmetric at higher load. On of the possible reasons is that not all connectors have exactly the same strength in reality and that slip tends to localize along the zone with weaker connection strength.…”

“…Fig. 4a shows the test set-up of the bending test with 4 loading points which is similar to the one employed in previous works [44,[59][60]. The deflection was measured at the mid-span center by two potentiometers supported by an aluminium yoke, which filters out the possible timber deformation at the support.…”

“…This commercial software can perform complex solid mechanics assessments through an easy-to-use graphical user interface. Earlier works by Junges et al [27], Mushina et al [28] and Yu et al [29] used SAP2000 to investigate the vibration behaviour of various structural components. It turns out that the vibration behaviour in the linear-elastic range can be precisely simulated with SAP2000.…”
