Vision-Aided Brush Alignment Assembly System for Precision Conductive Slip Rings

Abstract: The alignment precision of manual brush assembly for a precision conductive slip ring is critical to its performance of reliability and service lifetime. Currently, the alignment precision cannot be guaranteed since it largely depends on the operator’s experiences and skill level. In this paper, a machine vision-aided method is proposed to measure the ring groove positions as the brush alignment objective, and track the relative brush position deviation during the manual brush alignment assembly. A vision-aide… Show more

“…It needs to point out that the camera must be placed outside a water-filled tank or in a waterproof housing with a flat glass window during the whole underwater calibration experiment. Meanwhile, the specific underwater calibration procedures 28 are accomplished using a high-precision circular calibration board with an array of 7×7 circular marker points.…”

“…In order to improve the contact quality and service life of the brush wire, many scholars have focused on controlling the brush wire contact deviation, brush wire assembly and friction heat [7][8][9]. Sun Yuanhang et al quantized the influence of thermo-electric multi-field coupling on the overall slip ring, and predicted the life of the friction pair [10]; wang Yueze et al used the finite element analysis method to quantitatively analyze the SINS angle error caused by temperature excitation through numerical simulation and verified it.…”

“…The research results provide a reference basis for revealing the changing microscopic mechanism of the friction and wear properties of Au-Au coating with temperature and speed and provide a theoretical basis for the design of long-life and high-reliability satellites in China. Chen [7] proposed a machine vision-aided method to measure the ring groove position as the brush alignment target and track the relative brush position deviation during the manual brush alignment assembly process. A vision-assisted brush alignment component system has also been developed to provide quantitative position deviation for the accurate alignment of brushes and ring grooves, ensuring higher alignment accuracy and efficiency.…”
