With the proliferation of networked digital technologies and the concurrent fragmentation of work in globalized business organizations, knowledge work is developing along complex lines that are not accountedfor adequately in our literature. The field of technical communication, for example, is being redefined as its professionals are articulated to work practices that did not exist months earlier. In an attempt to provide a principled means for making sense of such knowledge work, this paper reports on an ongoing effort to develop new techniques for creating meaningful models of work today. The paper offers an overview of this research and suggests ways that this investigation will be pursued in the future.

This paper evaluates the features and benefits of a new kind of writing tool -activity streams -for use by collaborative writing teams engaged in distributed work. Activity streams are continuously updated, shared records of project activity that include explicit references to project participants, shared objects, and actions performed over time. Drawing on case studies of distributed work in multiple settings conducted by the authors, the cases are discussed in relation to the affordances of activity streams in areas related to coordinating work.

This paper aims to share some research information based on the visual experiences during the field trip to Ba’Kelalan, Sarawak. Ba’Kelalan is a traditional village of the Lun Bawang community and is well-known as an eco-tourism area in Sarawak. All the experiences were documented using the digital documentation tools and have been recorded with reference to the formalistic artistic methods; in ensuring the visual effects have the best quality and high artistic value. The results will be discussed based on the implemented process and the impact of digital document preparation through experiential learning theory. Next, this article will provide new ideas and visual insights that can help data enhancement, especially in the promotion of the rural tourism sector.
