Vitality and Implication of Natural Products from Viburnum Grandiflorum: an Eco-Friendly Approach

Abstract: In this study we screened Viburnum grandiflorum for bioactive secondary metabolites and biological activity. Secondary metabolites were detected by phytochemical tests, and biological activity was confirmed through antimicrobial and anti-oxidant assays. Phytochemical screening (alkaloidal, tannins, terpenoids, flavonoids, anthraquinones, and glycosides) was performed with methanol, and aqueous and ethyl acetate extracts. Antibacterial activity against four bacterial strains -staphylococcus auries, Escherichia … Show more

“…Relative to O-H absorbance, the intensity of the C-H stretching bands enhanced with increasing acid chain length in FTIR spectra. These results obtained are in good agreement with the values given in literature for cellulose and starch esters via fatty acids [30][31][32][33][34][35][36]. Similar results were obtained for other products (GG-A to GG-J) irrespective of carbon chain length as shown in Table 2.…”

“…Absorbance was taken at 510 nm. TFC of the extracts were expressed as a catechin equivalents [27][28][29][30]. Phosphate (PO 4 ) buffer was prepared by dissolving 0.18g of NaH 2 PO 4 and 0.55g of Na 2 HPO 4 in 100 mL distilled water.…”

“…Normally the free radicals are integral part of physiology and are present either in the form of reactive, short lived oxygen and nitrogen species [1][2][3]. Overproduction of these reactive species occurs due to oxidative stress caused by imbalance of antioxidant defence system in human beings [4][5][6]. In spite of having a variety of methods for food presservation, the deterioration of food and other eatables is still a big issue for industrialists and consumers.…”
