“…The mean serum levels of serum 25OHD among subjects with recurrent group A streptococcal tonsillo-pharyngitis were significantly lower than those of the controls [Nseir et al 2012], suggesting an association between VD levels and recurrent group A streptococcal tonsillo-pharyngitis in adults. Children with a VD intake of less than 80 IU/kg/day were greater than four times more likely to have acute lower RTIs compared with children with a VD intake exceeding 80 IU/kg/day [Leis et al 2012].
