Vivid techniques of pretreatment showing promising results in biofuel production and food processing

Abstract: Different pretreatment techniques help to overcome many barriers in achieving desirable bioproducts at low cost as well as at lower energy requirement. This review predominantly aims to summarize all the pretreatment methods for the production of biofuel from biomass. The massive use of fossil fuel led to several huge problems Predominantly, Bioenergy has attained great importance due to rapid depletion in fossil fuel because biofuels are considered to be one of the promising alternatives of nonrenewable sourc… Show more

“…At the same temperature, the volatile aroma component of the RF sample was weaker than that of MW and RT, whereas the scent of the MW samples was gentler than that of the RT samples. This may be due to the differences in molecular vibration [ 12 , 21 ]. The actual mechanism for these differences is unclear.…”

“…Suitable heating pretreatments should provide efficient technologies for producing high-quality oils, and have various effects such as the promotion of oil solubility, increasing the level of bioactive components, and improving flavor. Currently studied technologies include autoclave, cooking, oven-heating, roasting (RT), steam explosion, microwave (MW) and radio frequency (RF) [ 12 ].…”

“…2) Alkaline Pre-treatment: In alkaline pre-treatment, the main process is the solubilisation of lignin and hemicellulose called saponification, which results in the breaking of the intermolecular ester bonds [25]. This alkali solution solubilisation caused the cellulose to interact with enzymes during the enzymatic hydrolysis process.…”
