Voltage harmonics reduction in single phase 9-level transistor clamped H-bridge inverter using nearest level control method

Abstract: This paper proposes a nearest level control method based modulation scheme for a 9-level symmetrical Transistor Clamped H-bridge (TCHB) inverter. The topology has gained increasing research focus due to its advantages in obtaining high quality output while using a reduced number of electronic components. The device count for obtaining a 9-level output voltage is it uses 10 active switches as compared to the 16 being used in a conventional 9-level cascaded H-Bridge (CHB) inverter. The significant contribution o… Show more

“…One of the potential answers to this problem is transistor clamped h-bridge (TCHB). The TCHB inverter utilizes a smaller DC sources and fewer switches to achieve the same number of levels as a standard CHB multilevel inverter [13], [14] illustrated in Figure 1, where Figure 1(a) for five-level TCHB and Figure 1(b) for five-level CHB inverter. The first publication to mention the TCHB inverter was [15].…”

“…Numerous strategies and analytical methodologies are developed and investigated in the scientific literature to address the SHE issues associated with inverters with multiple levels. All suggested solutions may be broadly grouped into three categories: repetitive procedures, consequence theory, and adaptive algorithms [9][10][11]. Newton Raphson (NR) is a highly popular recursive method.…”
