Voltammetric Study and Direct Analytical Determination of the Antiparkinson Drug Benserazide

Abstract: For the first time, a simple differential pulse voltammetry methodology for direct determination of benserazide in presence of levodopa in tablets was developed without any redox mediator, modified electrodes, or the aplication of mathematic deconvolution of signals. Benserazide was studied by differential pulse voltammetry using glassy carbon electrode in aqueous media. The drug exhibited a main well-defined oxidation signal in a broad pH range (2-10), and two poorly resolved signals at higher potentials. We … Show more

“…Several methods have been used for the determination of benserazide in pharmaceutical preparations such as capillary electrophoresis [6][7][8][9][10], spectrophotometry [11][12][13][14][15][16], high performance liquid chromatography [17,18], chemiluminescence [19] and voltammetry [20,21]. As yet, no paper has been reported on the voltammetric determination of benserazide using IL-TiO 2 /CPE.…”

“…BZ is rapidly absorbed after oral administration, and it is metabolized to trihydroxy benzyl hydrazine [21]. Several methods have been used for the determination of BZ in pharmaceutical preparations such as capillary electrophoresis [22], spectrophotometry [23], high performance liquid chromatography [24], chemiluminescence [25], and voltammetry [26][27][28].…”
