Voltammetry of lead cations on a new type of silver composite electrode in the presence of other cations

Abstract: A new type of silver composite electrode was examined, prepared from silver, graphite powder, and methacrylate resin. The effects of the presence of various cations (cadmium, copper, bismuth, thallium), anions (chlorides), surface-active substances (Triton X-100), and oxygen on the anodic-stripping voltammetric determination of lead were studied. It was found that the effect of underpotential deposition at the composite electrode differs from that produced at a metallic silver electrode, mainly at low concentr… Show more

“…Forsberg et al [27] investigated in detail the determination of arsenic by ASV and differential pulse anodic stripping voltammetry (DPASV) at various electrode materials (HMDE, Pt and Au), of which gold was found to be most suitable because of its sensitivity and high hydrogen overvoltage. In addition to solid gold electrode, macro-sized gold film electrodes [28,29] have also been used and the re-plating and washing [30] and reactivation of electrode surface [31] before each measurement improved the reproducibility. Besides, Bodewig et al [32] and Sun et al [33] investigated arsenic determination on gold rotating disc electrodes to remove produced hydrogen bubbles mechanically.…”

“…Specific features of the last material are its strength, chemical inertness, absence of impurities, nonswelling in water solutions, stability in organic solvents for prolonged periods, ease and simplicity of fabrication, and secure fixing of water-soluble reagents. Table 1 gives examples of the use of modified composite electrodes in stripping voltammetry with the composite materials made under industrial and laboratory conditions using simple sol-gel, sono-gel, spin-casting, and molding technologies [73,[74][75][76][77][78][79][80][81][82][83][84][85][86][87][88][89][90][91][92]. The electrodes shown in the table can be divided into two groups: those made of carbon-(soot, amorphous carbon) [73][74][75][76][77][78][79] and those made of graphite-containing [80][81][82][83][84][85][86][87][88][89][90][91][92] materials.…”
