“…Curvularia lunata strain CBE from the laboratory collection, used for 11b-and 14a-hydroxylation of D 4 -3-ketosteroids [19,20], was stored at a temperature of 4 -5°C on agar slopes containing 4.0 g/liter yeast extract, 10.0 g/liter malt extract, 4.0 g/liter glucose, 30.0 g/liter agar agar, pH 6.2 -6.9. Steroid-transforming activity was studied by transferring cultures 10 -14 days old from agar slopes to 100 ml of medium (in 750-ml conical flasks) consisting of 30.0 g/liter sucrose, 2.5 g/liter yeast autolysate, 2.0 g/liter NaNO 3 , 3.0 g/liter NH 4 H 2 PO 4 , 1.0 g/liter K 2 HPO 4 , 0.5 g/liter KCl, 0.5 g/liter MgSO 4 , pH 6.0 -6.2, and incubated for 65 -70 h at 28°C on a shaker at 220 rpm.…”
