Waves in Microstructured Conducting Sheath Helix Embedded Optical Guides with Chiral Nihility and Chiral Materials

Abstract: The paper deals with the sustainment of electromagnetic waves in circularly cylindrical optical guide with chiral nihility and chiral materials in the core and the clad sections, respectively. A perfectly conducting tightly wound helix is introduced at the core-clad interface. The eigenvalue relation for such a complex optical microstructured guide is deduced by applying suitable boundary conditions at the core-clad interface, and the dispersion behavior is analyzed by varying the pitch angle of helix. The sus… Show more

“…Iqbal et al [18] reported before the dispersion features of helical clad fibers with chiral nihility mediums. The present communication remains a platform where we present a comparative study of fibers with elliptical and circular crosssections in which chiral nihility cylinders are encapsulated with infinitely extended dielectric clads in the transverse direction.…”

“…These are easy to fabricate by placing miniature spiral or conducting springs in the host dielectric medium [10,11]. Electromagnetic wave propagation through waveguides comprised of chiral, uniaxial chiral and chiral nihility metamaterials have been appeared in the literature [10][11][12][13][14][15][16][17]. Apart from these, the scattering behavior of electromagnetic waves from PEMC based mediums has been reported [18].…”

“…[11] While assuming nonplanar anisotropic boundary-value problems, [12] scattering from infinite helical cylindrical sheet has been the subject of great interest. Helical structures, in the context of traveling wave tubes [13] and helical waveguides, have been studied extensively in the literature [13][14][15][16][17][18][19] including the use of other forms of materials in the guiding structure. [20][21][22][23][24] The design of fiber with helical structures consists of fine perfectly conducting wire tightly wound on a dielectric cylindrical surface so that each helical turn remains insulated from the neighboring one.…”
