Increased doubts about health during the pandemic situation creates the need for affordable and accurate wearables to measure vital signs especially temperature, heart rate, respiratory rate, oxygen saturation (SpO2), BP. With the advancements of technology in recent times the vital signs such as SpO2, BP, etc. can be found using a smartphone or a wearable connected to a smartphone/server through Bluetooth. In the proposed method, video of index finger taken by a smart phone under a light source reveals information regarding the vital signs SpO2, BP, heart rate when processed and it eliminates the need of manufacturing a new wearable. The results are compared with standard pulse oximeters for spo2 and the mean standard error is found between 0.5 and 4.5, with manual methods, for heart rate the results are found to be with minimal errors, with cuff-based device, for BP measurements the constants found are in inverse relation.
