Wheat and Peanut Food Allergy in Mugwort (Artemesia Vulgaris) Sensitized Patients: A Case Series of Four Cases

Abstract: Artemisia vulgaris) is the important representative of the Asteraceae family. In India, mugwort pollen flowers appear in late summer and autumn. It is a coarse perennial herb, often reddish, angled stems, having dark green above, and white woolly beneath [1]. The main allergen in mugwort is 80% glycoprotein with a defensive-like domain (Art V1) and has 60% non-specific lipid transfer protein (Ns LTP-Art V3). This Ns LTP has cross-reactivity with peanut, soybean, wheat, and sunflower seeds. In Mugwort-Mustard A… Show more

“…Whether peach-(PruP 3) LTP has been sensitizer in these cases, needs further identification of homologous ns LTP in both tree pollen allergens and also to investigate immunological ns LTP of nuts, lentils, and citrus fruits. The authors have published four cases of LTP cross-reactivity between Wheat (Tri a 14) and Peanut (Ara h 9) in prior sensitization to Artemesia vulgaris (Mugwort) [7].…”
