Wide band circularly polarised diversity antenna for satellite and mobile communication

Abstract: A wide band circularly polarised diversity antenna consisting of closely spaced monopole radiators is proposed. Two novel, microstrip fed‐printed monopoles are designed on a common ground plane. The ground plane which is asymmetric with respect to the feed line along with the planar monopole structure is used to achieve circular polarisation. The monopoles which are symmetric with respect to the vertical axis produce orthogonally polarised waves. A modified split ring resonator‐like structure is designed on th… Show more

“…In current communication systems, multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) antennas are used to send and receive multiple data signals over the same radio channel [1]. MIMO antennas are important components in current wireless communication systems as they can reduce interference, and enhance connection quality and channel capacity without requiring more bandwidth.…”

“…Two-port MIMO antenna consisting of close radiating patches is reported for circular polarization. 15 In this design, a modification in the split ring resonator embedded with the ground plane, are demonstrated which minimize the mutual coupling between the two ports. A single element dual-port fed MIMO antenna is presented in Reference 16.…”

“…The additional decoupling structure is an obstacle to maintain the low profile of the antenna system. In this regard, antenna isolation using pattern and polarization diversity is an interesting technique to achieve MIMO performance [11][12][13][14].…”
