Wideband circularly polarized antenna array using sequential phase feed structure and U‐shaped radiating patch elements for S‐band applications

Abstract: In this article, a 2 × 2 circular polarized (CP) antenna array, which is using sequential rotation (SR) technique in feeding network, has been introduced. The feeding network uses two 90° arcs and several rectangular lines with the same width. The length of these elements is multiple of λg/4 to produce 90° phase difference in 4 outputs of feeding network. By connecting the patch elements to the feeding network, which have been surrounded with radiating patch elements, design of 2 × 2 patch array has been compl… Show more

“…To solve the above issue, some sequential rotating array antennas based on a sequential-phase (SP) feeding network were proposed in. [8][9][10][11][12][13] Typically, a coaxially fed unidirectional CP array antenna, which consists two substrates and an air band gap, carried out a 70% impedance bandwidth and a 55% AR bandwidth 9 ; a stacked array antenna, which is composed by some double-layer patches, obtained a 43.2% impedance bandwidth and a 23.5% AR bandwidth. 14 However, these antenna arrays are highly profiled because of their noncoplanar feeds or multilayer structures.…”
