Wideband Low-Sidelobe Slot Array Antenna With Compact Tapering Feeding Network for E-Band Wireless Communications

Abstract: In this work, a wideband low sidelobe slot array antenna for wireless communication system at E-band is presented. The slots are excited by a parallel feeding network where the Taylor distribution is applied. Two types of wideband unequal power divider with compact structures are designed for various output ratios to fit the limited feeding network space. One is integrated vertically inside a 2 × 1 elements subarray using a set of pins with asymmetrical offset. The other type is designed inside an E-plane T-ju… Show more

“…T-junction with a power-split ratio of type C (5.61 dB) is used to connect subarrays in both feeding networks. The structure of the E-plane subarray unequal power divider is similar to the one proposed in [16]. In this work, the two output branches are used as the feed of the H-plane unequal power dividers with the coupling aperture one instead of directly exciting the radiating slots.…”

“…To implement the feeding network into one layer, it has to be as compact as possible. In order to reduce the cross-sectional area, structures with E-plane T-junctions are employed in [2], [23]. However, its two output branches are 180 • out of phase, which requires an extra bend structure to compensate.…”
