Show more

“…Class repetitions can be seen as a critical event in life, which has negative impact on children’s well-being, as Vockert et al. ( 2019 ) show with data of SC3. In addition, the focus of stage 4 in the first NEPS period was on capturing the development and importance of orthography as a core secondary school competency and corresponding beneficial activities such as reading as well as attitudes to them (c.f.…”

“…For further research, we recommend including different domains of school participation as well as other apparent factors (Kline, 2010) that influence school well-being, such as classroom climate or teacher behaviour (Løhre et al, 2010;Aldridge and McChesney, 2018;Vockert et al, 2018), and testing this theoretical model with a structural equation model. We also assume that by accounting for measurement error in structural equation models (Kühnel, 2001;Hayduk et al, 2007;Gäde and Schermelleh-Engel, 2023), the relationships between participation in school life and school well-being would become even more salient.…”

“…Critical events do not only affect the individual educational biographies of students [21,23] but also their well-being [24,25]. Thus, studying critical events throughout the educational career is important because well-being at school age is regarded as a central element for success in school, besides studentsś chool performance [26].…”

“…Well-being is defined differently in many studies [27,28], mostly as a multidimensional construct that includes psychological components (e.g., psychosomatic abnormalities), affective components (e.g., school satisfaction) and cognitive components (e.g., life satisfaction) [27,29]. However, in many studies, only individual components are examined in detail [25,28].…”
