Introduction Preeclampsia is a pregnancy-specific hypertensive disease that affects 3–5% of pregnant women all over the world and 1.3% of pregnancies among Jordanian women. Objectives This study aims to assess the cardiovascular disease risk factors awareness among women with a recent history of preeclampsia in Jordan and assess the role of healthcare providers in providing counseling about cardiovascular disease risk factors. Methods A descriptive cross-sectional design was used to recruit 180 women with a recent history of preeclampsia during the last 12 months. Data were obtained from patients’ medical records and the Attitude and Beliefs about Cardiovascular Disease Risk Questionnaires. Results The results revealed that 43.9% of women with a recent history of preeclampsia have hypertension, 6.7% have diabetes mellitus, 16.1% have dyslipidemia, 28.9% have a family history of cardiovascular disease, 66.1% are overweight or obese, and 7.2% are smokers. The mean total score of knowledge subscale was 5.5 (SD = 1.21) out of 8. Only 20% of the participants had good cardiovascular disease knowledge. The mean total score of risk perception was 15.47 (SD = 7.8). The mean score of perceived benefits and intention to change behaviors was 2.30 (SD = 0.62). The mean score of healthy eating intentions was 2.54 (SD = 0.81). Income, having diabetes mellitus, and receiving counseling about preeclampsia as cardiovascular disease risk factor were associated with some dimensions of cardiovascular disease risk factors awareness. Conclusion The prevalence of cardiovascular disease risk factors was relatively high among the study participants. The majority of participants had inadequate cardiovascular disease knowledge. In addition, the role of healthcare providers in providing counseling about cardiovascular disease and related risk factors, including PE was limited. Providing more counseling related to cardiovascular disease by nurses and doctors is essential to enhance women's cardiovascular disease knowledge and intention to change lifestyle.

Aim and objectives This study aimed to explore the levels of knowledge, attitudes, and practices toward palliative care (PC) among nurses working with patients diagnosed with cancer in Jordan. Background PC is a growing specialty in healthcare and nursing in Jordan with an increased need to expand its scope, develop policies to govern it, and increase the awareness of its importance especially for patients diagnosed with cancer. Design Cross sectional design was used in the current study. Methods Using an online self-report questionnaire data was collected from 228 nurses working at four hospitals in Amman. The four hospitals were from three different healthcare sectors: one public, one educational, and two private hospitals. A convenience sampling method was employed. Results Results showed a low level of PC knowledge (M = 8.8), a moderate level of attitudes (M = 80.9) toward dying patients, and a moderate level of PC practices (M = 52.7). Differences in PC knowledge, attitudes, and practices were found in regard to nurses’ gender, level of education, PC training, years of experience, and working sector. Significant correlations were found between PC practices with both PC knowledge and attitudes toward dying patients. No significant relationship between PC knowledge and attitudes toward dying patients. Conclusion Low level of PC knowledge and moderate level of attitudes toward dying patients. Differences in PC knowledge, attitudes, and practices were found in regard to some participants’ demographics.

Breast cancer (BC) remains a significant concern among young women aged <40 years, particularly in the Middle East, where the incidence rates are rising. Many advancements in treating BC at this young age are studied in Western countries. Therefore, understanding the unique challenges faced by this demographic group is vital for tailored interventions, as they often experience distinct risk factors, disease characteristics, and outcomes compared to older women. A systematic literature search was conducted to find relevant recent studies published between 2019 and 2024. Databases including PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science were searched using the following keywords: “breast cancer” AND “Middle East” AND (“awareness” OR “knowledge” OR “screening” OR “quality of life” OR “incidence” OR “histology” OR “stage” OR “grade” OR “survival rates” OR “risk factors” OR “genetic predispositions” OR “epidemiology”). The four available cancer registries in the Middle East were also reviewed, and incidence rates from the global burden of disease were extracted. This study explores various aspects of BC among young women in the Middle East, including epidemiology, stage and grade distribution, histological subtypes, molecular and genetic profiles, and prognosis and survival outcomes. Clear inclusion and exclusion criteria were followed, and two breast specialists reviewed the titles and abstracts. One hundred and thirty-seven articles were excluded from the 177 titles after title and abstract review. The findings highlight significant variations in awareness, screening practices, and treatment modalities across the region. We concluded that the Middle East region faces significant challenges with BC in young women. The higher burden compared to Western countries is due to its high frequency in the BC population and the more advanced stage at presentation. This could be linked to lower awareness, challenging healthcare access, cultural stigmas, and potential differences in genetic and lifestyle factors. There is a need for improved public health initiatives.
