“…Extant work reveals that one's locus orientation can alter the effects of both personal and environmental factors. For instance, the influence of workload on stress and organizational constraints on counterproductive behavior is higher among individuals with an external locus of control (Sassi, Akremi, & Vandenberghe, 2015;Sprung & Jex, 2012). However, a study of organizational change and job insecurity suggests that some workplace threats are more difficult for internals to handle (Ito & Brotheridge, 2007).…”

“…More specifically, internal LOC, because it comes with a belief that one has the power to cope with a stressful work environment, has been negatively related to maladaptive outcomes such as counterproductive work behaviours, and positively associated with adaptive outcomes such as job performance and job satisfaction (e.g. Sprung & Jex ). In the most recent meta‐analysis on LOC at work, Ng et al .…”

“…Thus, it is ditncult to make a general statement of whether age has a detrimental effect on perfonnance. If one looks at other types of potential behavioral reactions to stressors, such as accidents and counterproductive behaviors, there is evidence that age is ncgatively related (Ng & Feldman, 2008;Ng & Feldman, 2010;Sprung, 2011).…”
