In this study, the problems encountered by international students studying at the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences at İnönü University in accounting courses were attempted to be identified using a qualitative research method. The interview technique was employed as the data collection method in the research.
In a globalized world, the increasing mobility of international students leads to challenges for those from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds, especially in technical courses such as accounting. This study highlights the importance of mathematical and language proficiency for foreign students in understanding accounting courses and proposes solutions, such as combining traditional teaching methods with practical applications. The findings contribute to understanding these students' educational needs and developing appropriate teaching strategies.
As a result of the data evaluation, the participants indicated that it is necessary to have knowledge of Mathematics to understand the Accounting course, it is important for instructors teaching in English to use clear and understandable language, international students studying in Turkish programs should not begin their undergraduate education without mastering the Turkish language, and it would be beneficial for courses to be taught face-to-face using both classical methods and slides. Additionally, they emphasized the need for more practical training. The other responses of the participants are discussed in the Conclusion and Discussion section.
