Abstract

It is high news value of news about the child. It being raised problem of whether the child is abused by the media. In this context, the aim of this study is to examine the ways in which children are dealt with in written media and news approach written media about these children. The research was carried out by document analysis method which is one of the content analysis types. Two newspapers with the highest circulation, which are assumed to be the most influential to society, are dealt with by taking the sales circulation into consideration. In these two newspapers, which were determined by criterion sampling method from randomized sampling methods, the news between 12 March 2018-25 March 2018 were included in the scope of the evaluation. Looking at the results of the research, When news about the children they died or witnessed a murder, it has been seen that their names are written clearly and death is the death of their rights. In other cases, the media offers personal information in an indirect way. In this context, there should be supervisory units in the media sector, which will prevent children from being easily placed in the center of the news. However, a common language should be established in the media.
