Yazma Becerisinin Geliştirilmesine Yönelik Bir Öneri: SÖZTÜR Tekniği

Abstract

The aim of this study is to develop a new technique to improve students' writing skills. This technique is named with the concept of SOZTUR, which is obtained by combining the words word(söz) and genre(tür), with the idea of creating a genre from a word. The word technique consists of the following stages: 1. Finding a word, 2. Definition of the word, 3. Drawing the image of the word, 4. Physically describing the word, 5. Finding and reading/listening a song/poem where the word is used, 6. Quoting a line/stanza from a song/poem, 7. Writing the emotions evoked by the song/poem, 8. Finding an idiom about the word and writing the meaning of the idiom, 9. Drawing the image of the idiom, 10. Making a connection between the idiom and the word, 11. Finding a proverb about the word and writing the meaning of the proverb, 12. Drawing the image of the proverb, 13. Connecting the proverb with the word, song/poem and idiom, 14. Choosing the genre, 15. Gathering information about the genre, 16. Writing the genre (story/poem/fable/tale/epic…), 17. Sharing the article. Scanning model was used in the study. The SOZTUR Technique was applied by the researcher to Turkish teacher candidates studying at undergraduate level. As a result of the study, it was seen that the students were having fun while writing.
