Agro-industrial waste has been considered to be a good source for the production of biofuels. Apart from that, it has also proven to be a valuable source of high-value-added products. The conversion of agro-industrial waste into high-value-added products allows the whole process to be designed in line with the biorefinery and zero-waste circular economy concept, especially because all parts of agro-industrial waste can be utilised. The application of the circular economy to agro-industrial systems is spreading globally and is a response to the current unsustainable model of production and consumption based on resource depletion and increased demand. This review provides a more detailed understanding of the potential of the circular economy as a response to the need to reduce the environmental impact of agro-industrial waste in organic production and to promote a more sustainable agri-food industry.

This paper is based on the data from the author's interviews with our sociologists of different generations and places of employment. In the qualitative research, the following questions, among others, were analyzed: 1. whether sociology is in crisis; 2. theoretical and methodological pluralism in sociology; 3. the sociologist's potential (sociological approach, sociologist's imagination) to investigate the problems of contemporary society. Based on the analysis of the answers, the following items were considered: 1. the social position of sociology as a scientific and research discipline; 2. the potential and applicability of sociological knowledge to the problems faced by the sociological profession itself. The author concludes that, according to our sociologists, sociology in Serbia cannot boast of any particular epistemological successes in the field of researching global structures and understanding the world-historical processes in which Serbian society finds itself, but that its potential for research is considerable and that, as a first step, it is necessary for sociology to return to the study of social structure, i.e., society in totality, as its main epistemological task.

The circular economy (CE) is a multidisciplinary approach focused on achieving the sustainability of the whole society. This review aims to reveal the potential impact of the circular economy on quality of life. This systematic review analyzes studies dealing with the concept of circular economy and quality of life. The methodology process included a keyword search and three selection steps. A total of 39 studies were included in the analysis. We define four topics that emerged from the literature review i) urban sustainable development; ii) waste management; iii) material production and iv) human well-being. All these topics emerged in the literature dealing with issues of circular economy and its impact on the quality of life. We assume that it is implied that every step towards circular economy contributes to the life quality, but there is an evident lack of studies that measure that impact. In Serbia, a small number of researchers were involved in this topic, although it represents one step towards the objective of improving the state of the environment. This review of the literature should serve as a starting point for future research.
