Abstract: Während bei der Umsetzung von Mn(NO)3CO mit Alkalicyanid in flüssigem Ammoniak das zweikernige, krypton‐konfigurierte Anion [(NC)2(ON)2MnMn(NO)2(CN)2]4− gebildet wird, entstehen bei der gleichen Reaktion mit MnNO(CO)4 die beiden Cyanocarbonylmanganate (+I) [Mn(CO)3(CN)3]2− und [Mn(CO)2(CN)4]3− nebeneinander. Show more

“…Despite reports of several cyanomanganates, most are unsuitable for constructing magnetic complexes, as they are diamagnetic. For example, dinuclear K 4 [Mn(CN) 2 (NO) 2 ] 2 can be prepared via treatment of Mn(NO) 3 CO with KCN in liquid ammonia, while a mononuclear dinitrosyl complex, K 3 [Mn(CN) 2 (NO) 2 ], is obtained via reduction of the former with potassium. A pentacyanonitrosyl complex, K 3 [Mn(CN) 5 NO], in addition to several carbonyl analogues of Mn(CO) 5 CN, K[Mn(CO) 4 (CN) 2 ], K 2 [Mn(CO) 3 (CN) 3 ], and K 3 [Mn(CO) 2 (CN) 4 ] stoichiometry are also known; Na 5 [Mn(CN) 6 ] is the only well-defined homoleptic diamagnetic cyanomanganate. …”
