“…When we knocked down β-catenin in endothelial monolayer, the increased TER, tight and adhesin junction proteins and decreased permeability across HUVEC monolayers conferred by terlipressin sharply changed (Figure 6). Whereas p-β-catenin caused adherence junction disruptions and cytoskeleton rearrangement, and then increased vascular endothelial hyperpermeability (Weng, Yu et al, 2019). Therefore, we suggested that activation of the PI3K/β-catenin pathway might be involved in the protective effect of terlipressin on GVB.…”

“…It has reported that PTK2 could participate in the β-catenin pathway in two ways. First, activated PTK2 could localize at cell junctions and phosphorylate β-catenin Y142 directly 54,55 . Second, PTK2 phosphorylates GSK3 Y279/Y216 to stabilize β-catenin, thereby promoting tumorigenesis 34 .…”

“…3G), studies have demonstrated that PTK2 participates in activating β-catenin signaling. On the one hand, PTK2 can directly phosphorylate βcatenin Y142 to promote its translocation into the nucleus 32,33 . On the other hand, it phosphorylates GSK3 Y279/Y216 to promote its ubiquitinated degradation mediated by E3 ligase β-TrCP (β-transducin repeats-containing proteins), thereby stabilizing the expression of total β-catenin 34 (Fig.…”

“…The relationship between Wnt/β-catenin and ALI has been studied in the early stage, among which Wnt5a and Wnt3a play different roles. Therein, β-catenin, as a skeletal protein, plays a role in the stability of VE-cadherin in endothelial cells, and studies have shown that LPS-induced disruption of pulmonary endothelial barrier leads to β-catenin degradation ( Rho et al, 2017 ; Tharakan et al, 2012 ; Weng et al, 2019 ; Zhu et al, 2019 ). Meanwhile, Wnt3a/β-catenin as a classical pathway is involved in maintaining endothelial barrier function, and Wnt3a activation improves ALI( Hii et al, 2015 ).…”
