The COVID-19 pandemic has had a negative impact on the mental health of society as a whole, as evidenced by the growth of depression and anxiety among the population. However, the scenario predicted by WHO of an increase in the suicide rate has not been confirmed. In Russia, during 2020 and 2021, as in previous periods, there was a decrease in suicidal mortality. Further studies of the consequences of the pandemic will provide new data on suicidal behavior and indicate new ways of preventive work.
