“…Considering β o injury with minimal medium, MPN rather than the plate count method may be preferable for viability assays, whereas the complex medium plate count method using NaP‐containing agar should be used. Although the double cultivation methods such as DiVSaL and DiVLaL techniques may be useful for the enumeration of injured microbial populations (Asada et al, 2021; Horikiri et al, 2020; Tsuchido, 2017), this study suggests that several factors influencing the generation of β o injury, such as microbial strain, growth and recovery media and the type of antioxidant, should be taken into account for the application of a set of activities in microbiological quality inspection and assurance to ensure the quality and safety of food products.…”
