Culturing geranium at different doses of Zn from 0-1.0 g m -3 (Zn 0 to Zn 1.000 ) revealed that Zn is an antioxidant promoter, apart from its micronutrient essentiality. Zn 0.250 was the critical concentration for maximum content (0.21 %) of total essential monoterpene oil(s). At Zn 0.005 -Zn 0.250 , net photosynthetic rate, and contents of chlorophyll and essential monoterpene oil(s) were affected. The maximum peroxidase activity was obtained at Zn 0.250 , with the production of biomolecule geraniol. We found an oxido-reducible reaction of Zn in the formation of monoterpene essential oil(s) and possibly major constituents of geraniol.
The influence of different foliar applications of the triacontanol (Tria .) based plant grow regulator-'Miraculan', on growth, C02 exchange and essential oil accumulation in Lemongrass (Cymbopogon flexuosus L.) Steud . Watts. was studied in glass-house conditions . The yield components, viz ., plant height, tillers per plant, biomass yield, accumulation of essential oil, net C0 2 exchange and transpiration rates increased with 'Miraculan' treatment of 0.4 pg/ml compared to the untreated control, but the number of leaves per tiller remained unaffected . Application of Miraculan at 0 .4µg/ml increased micronutrient uptake, total chlorophyll and citral content but decreased chlorophyll a/b ratio and stomatal resistance . Increase in shoot biomass, photosynthesis and chlorophyll were significantly correlated with essential oil content .
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
