This paper presents analysis and comparison of weighted subspace based MUSIC for the direction of arrival (DOA) using spatially smoothed forward (FS) only estimates, forward-backward smoothed (FBS) estimates of array correlation matrix. It is shown that for subspace technique like MUSIC, the FBS estimate techniques performs better as compared to FS estimates especially for correlated signals in multipath scenario. The ability of smoothing to obtain sharper peaks is applied under different estimates. The results are obtained for MUSIC and Root-MUSIC. It is observed that even for correlated signals MUSIC can be applied for DOA detection using above estimates. The resolution is also found improved.
In the present paper convergence characteristics of blind beam-forming algorithm Least Square Constant Modulus Algorithm (LSCMA) are analyzed. This algorithm is used with Smart antenna systems (SAS) for improving the performance of wireless communication system by optimizing the radiation pattern according to the signal environment. This can increase the coverage and capacity of a system in multipath channels by overcoming the interference and noise. The data rate can be enhanced by mitigating fading due to cancellation of multipath components. In this paper optimization capabilities of LSCMA are considered by changing of parameters. The results reveal improvement in gain and reduction in side-lobe level.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
