Waste heaps of coal mines for decades have been polluting the environment by toxic fumes, combustion products of moldboard supply and sewage. We have developed a typology of heaps of Lviv-Volyn Coal Basin. The proposed heaps typology within the Lviv-Volyn Coal Basin provides 8 levels of hierarchical distribution. Due to the developed heaps typology of Lviv-Volyn Coal Basin it is possible to structure devastated landscapes according to the degree of abuse and the level of remediation.
