The Malaysian Government intention to implement the higher education reforms is observable in the implementation of National Higher Education Strategic Plan beyond 2020 in 2007. This plan emphasises on improving the research and teaching in higher education in accordance with the government objectives. Parallel to the introduction of this plan, the government has also initiated the funding reforms which are currently implemented on the public universities. Therefore, this paper will discuss the impact of Malaysian higher education reforms with emphasis on teaching and learning in Malaysian public universities.
Purpose of the study: This study aims to apply organizational commitment and job satisfaction as an indicator to stimulate organizational citizenship behaviours.
Methodology: The data collected by a questionnaire survey conducted among a group of hotel employees in Baghdad, Iraq. The 200 questionnaires distributed, the researchers received 149, were valid responses. The data were analyzed by AMOS software after ensuring validity, Reliability, and model fit.
Main Findings: The results revealed that organizational commitment and job satisfaction play a positive and influential role in changing the organizational citizenship behaviours among hotel employees. Also, organizational commitment has a stronger impact on improving the behaviour of employees than job satisfaction.
Research limitations/implications: The study contributes to human resource managers as it reveals the influential role of firms' commitment and job satisfaction on altering staff behaviours towards organizational citizenship. Therefore, it is understood that more variables need to be considered, such as psychological contract and employees' empowerment.
Novelty/Originality of this study: The finding can fill the gap in the literature related to this article in the Iraqi setting, where studies about organizational citizenship is not existing in this context.
Transformational leadership (TL) play an important role to improve job satisfaction(JS) among employees. however, most of the previous studies conducted in organizations and health sectors, limited studies conducted in the education sector. The purpose of this study to exam the effect of transformational leadership on job satisfaction among academic staff and enrich the body of knowledge in education sector and particularly in Iraq setting. The study conducted at Cihan university-Erbil, Iraq. However, the study employed a quantitative method by Structured questionnaires to collect the data, 137 valid questionnaires has been analysed by structural equation modelling to exam the effect among TL and JS. The result showed there is a positive significant effect of TL on JS among academic staff. moreover, the Individuals consideration found a highest impact on Job satisfaction than other TL dimensions. universities should pay more attention to TL and improve the leader's characteristics among university leaders to enhance the JS among academics staff.
Organizations should enhance justice in the workplace to increase the satisfaction among employees. The purpose of this study was to examine the impact of organizational justice on job satisfaction among nurses. The study cohort was composed of nurses from 2 public hospitals. A stratified sampling technique was employed to ensure better representation of samples from the 2 hospitals. A total of 184 valid questionnaires from 2 public hospitals were analyzed by structural equation modeling. The results showed that the 3 dimensions of organizational justice, namely distributive justice, procedural justice, and interactional justice, have a positive and significant impact on the nurses' job satisfaction. Distributive justice showed a greater impact on job satisfaction than procedural justice and interactional justice. The supervisors and administrators should be provided with information on how improvement in organizational justice leads to job satisfaction and on-the-job facilitation of employee innovation. The results of this study provide a clear image for hospital administrations about the substantial role of justice in the workplace.
