In this paper, an advanced control was applied to the Phase Locked Loop (PLL) circuit applied to a shunt active power filter to improve the power quality such as current harmonics and reactive power compensation due to the nonlinear loads and unbalanced voltage source. A self-tuning filter has been used to extract the fundamental component from distorted or unbalanced voltage source. A fuzzy logic controller is proposed to ensure a perfect synchronization with line voltage.
Moreover, Low pass Filter based in SRF method is used to extract the reference currents. Hysteresis Current Controller is used to generate switching signals for the voltage source inverter. A comparison of the proposed method against the conventional proportional integral one is illustrated through simulation results. The results show that the dynamic behavior of the fuzzy controller is better than the conventional proportional integral (PI) controller.
