In Saudi Arabia, local interpretations of Islamic laws and social norms have a negative impact on the health and well-being of women. The objective of this literature review was to discuss gender inequity in Saudi Arabia and its relation to public health. Despite the scarcity of recent statistics and information regarding gender inequity in Saudi Arabia, this review is an attempt to explore this sensitive issue in this country. Women's roles and rights in Saudi society were examined, including education, marriage, polygamy, fertility, job opportunities, car driving and identification cards. Further research to assess knowledge, attitudes and practices towards health care of Saudi men and women is recommended.
Architects and designers should be familiar with the city developmental process to know about all the city aspects if they are hidden the whole time. This matter shows the importance of studying the urban sections to find out the city critical points. The method is the space syntax in one view which is the consideration of urban network analysis and it would be presented by graphs and maps by a computational description of the selected places. The main target of the space syntax establishment is to study the urban network issue by clarifying the most logical routes in the urban road network. This study has the aim to implement the space syntax as a method to determine urban network problems in order to achieve the new suggestions to increase the urban network integration. In this regards, Famagusta city in Cyprus is chosen to study to present the new suggestion.
The significant aim of architecture is to support different human needs especially housing as an essential requirement; as well as the consideration of environmental factors. One of the environmental issues is the consideration of climatic conditions that have a deep influence on designing to create comfortable indoor spaces and housing durability. Based on climate conditions, passive solar energy as primary factor decreases energy consumption inexpensively. Furthermore, it is undeniable that socio-cultural structure of the society has deep influence on designing houses. The purpose of this study is to investigate how to improve housing quality for achieving low-cost energy by use of endless energies as a potential point in Famagusta with Mediterranean climate. Moreover, the second part of paper is the considered strategies in different period of Cypriot dwelling, as an important strategy in comparison evaluation.
The built environment witnessed rapid transformation after the industrial revolution. This transformation came along with some negativities, which gave rise to the concept of sustainability in urban form. In this regard, the current study aimed to assess and validate the reciprocal relationship between urban morphology and sustainable urban form. This study proposes a conceptual model which integrates and presents the holistic correlation between sustainable urban form and urban morphology, by using qualitative grounded theory as the research methodology. The model was developed by introducing analytical tools to evaluate sustainability, along with integrating typo-morphology and the concept of scale hierarchy. The findings of this study reveal that every single component of sustainable urban form interacts significantly with the typo-morphology approach. Consequently, the outcomes help urban planners to get more informed decisions about the geometric analysis of urban morphology from a sustainability point of view.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
