This purpose of this study was to examine the satisfaction of Afghan students from online learning during COVID-19 at Kandahar University, Kandahar, Afghanistan. This research used a quantitative approach, and the learners were from several departments of Education Faculty as well as they were selected through random sample. Similarly, the questionnaire was the main instrument of this study. As well as, three hundred and forty students took participation. After collecting the data, it was analyzed by implementing IBM 24 version of (SPSS). Moreover, the findings of this research indicated that majority students were not satisfied from distance education because learners could not learn from online education compare to traditional classroom setting, learners did not have access to internet-based learning through computer or smartphone, students did not prefer web-based learning, and learners did not seek the same descriptions of lessons on online learning process compare to traditional method of classroom. Also, online learning did not able students to learn independently. However, they were somehow satisfied from the role of teachers who played their role as a facilitator during e-learning process. In the world, Facebook is one of the most well-known social networking sites, which is used a lot among students. The purpose of this research is to identify the devoted time students’ spend on the usage of Facebook, and its impacts on learners’ social life at Mirwais Khan Nika Zabul Institute of Higher Education, Zabul, Afghanistan. In this study, the quantitative research method was used to collect data from one hundred and fifteen students, and they were selected through a random sample. Likewise, the questionnaire was designed based on the literature review then the data was collected from the participants. Similarly, the data was analyzed by using IBM 24 version of SPSS and found out the frequency and percentage of the demographic data as well as the items. Also, the findings of this research illustrate that learners were devoted from half to one-hour time for using Facebook. Moreover, the results assert that learners want to maintain in connection with people, feel fine when they share their ideas on Facebook and it had positive effects on students’ social life.
This study investigated the implementation of formative assessment and its impacts on EFL students’ academic performance at Kandahar University. The study is descriptive in nature; quantitative questionnaire was used to collect data from one hundred and fifty EFL students at all four levels selected through random sampling method. The collected data was analyzed by using IBM 24 version of SPSS and results are reported in tables by showing means, standard deviation, percentage and frequency. The major findings revealed that teachers are using formative assessment as part of their plan, allocating time for peer feedback, methods and tools of assessment teachers are using are group work, assignment, homework, presentation, project work which had positive impacts on students’ academic performance and improved final exam grades. Study also disclosed that teachers are valuing more summative assessment than formative, some important methods of assessment are ignored by teachers aversively affected their lower performance.
The aim of this study is to investigate the students’ purposes of using Facebook at Mirwais Khan Nika Zabul Institute of Higher Education, Qalat, Zabul province, Afghanistan. In this research, the quantitative research method was employed, and the data was collected from 115 students through a designed questionnaire. In addition, the respondents were selected through random sample. Additionally, the data was analyzed by implementing IBM 24 version of Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS), and found out the frequency and percentage of the items as well reported in a table. Moreover, the findings of this research reveal that learners use Facebook for several goals such as for socializing in order to be socialized in a society, getting social information, read news and for educational purposes, but they did not practice Facebook for the aims to pass their time, and share photos with their friends on the Facebook.
