ÖzBu çalışmada ilkokullarda görev yapan öğretmenlerin ve öğretmen adaylarının "çok kültürlü eğitim" kavramına ilişkin metaforlarının incelenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Araştırma nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden tarama modelinde hazırlanmıştır. Araştırmanın örneklemi, amaçlı örnekleme yöntemlerinden biri olan maksimum çeşitlilik esas alınarak seçilmiştir. Buna göre, Samsun iline bağlı ilkokullarda görev yapan branş ve sınıf öğretmenleri ile Ondokuz Mayıs Üniversitesi Đlköğretim bölümünde 5 anabilim dalında (Sınıf Öğretmenliği, Okul Öncesi Öğretmenliği, Fen Bilgisi Öğretmenliği, Matematik Öğretmenliği, Sosyal Bilgiler Öğretmenliği) AbstractPurpose of the study is examining metaphors of teachers and teacher candidates in primary school towards concept of multicultural education. The study is designed in descriptive survey model as a one of the qualitative research method. Sample of research was conducted by maximum variation sampling method is a kind of the purposeful sampling. Sample of the study is consisted of branch and classroom teachers who work at primary schools in Samsun and teacher candidates who study in Primary School Department (Classroom Teaching, Preschool Teaching, Science Teaching, Math Teaching, Social Science Teaching) and other education departments are Art Teaching, Music Teaching, Physical Education Teaching, English Teaching, Psychological Counselling and Guidance Teaching in Ondokuz Mayıs University. An open ended interview form was used for collecting data. The sentence of " Multicultural education is like…………because………….." was asked to fill by participants in interview form. Research data was analyzed by content analysiz method. Research results show that teachers and teacher candidates have different metaphors (71) about multicultural education. When examined metaphors were divided different 6 categories are "Multicultural Education as a gaining perception to understand others, Multicultural Education as a requiring multidimensional fund of knowledge, Multicultural Education as a gaining information about different one, Multicultural Education as based on individual differences, Multicultural Education as enabling richness of differences, Multicultural Education as a danger of unity of countries".
