Purpose: Teachers’ roles in delivering classroom instructions and executing lessons in this 21st century is much bigger than assumed by many who are not in the teaching field. Some people perceived teaching is a stressful job and those who do not have the passion would give up after a certain number of years. Many have opted for early retirement and this number has increased year by year. Thus, this study aims to analyze the factors (health, school management and workload) that influence teachers’ intention towards early retirement. Design/Methodology/Approach: 152 teachers were chosen from four cluster schools in Dungun, Terengganu and online questionnaires were distributed among them using Stratified Random Sampling Method. The data was analyzed using SPSS. Findings: The results show only teachers’ health influence them towards early retirement intention. Meanwhile, the other factors are viewed as a challenge in the teaching world and would not influence them to opt for early retirement. Implications/Originality/Value: This finding will assist the Ministry of Education in taking actions, to circumvent teachers from leaving their profession before reaching the compulsory retirement age. As a result, the school’s management will focus on improved alternatives in managing the teachers’ welfare and controlling the factors of early retirement among teachers.
In recent years, Malaysia has been experienced with the weather changes especially in increasing of the temperature. The highest temperature usually occurs during equinox. Equinox is the phenomenon when the sun is directly above the Earth's equator and this happens twice a year. Therefore, this study is carried out to determine the effects of equinox on climate change for five consecutive years. The information of this study was obtained from Malaysian Meteorological Department. The study involved three states and one federal territory in Peninsular Malaysia, namely Alor Setar (Kedah), Kota Bharu (Kelantan), Johor Bahru (Johor) and Kuala Lumpur. These states were chosen based on their location in North, East, South and West of Peninsular Malaysia. As a result, the overall mean temperature at all stations is in the range of 27°C to 30°C. The analysis revealed that the mean temperature in March showed significant increase from year 2011 to 2015 in all stations and Alor Setar recorded the highest mean temperature. However, other factors are also needed to be considered to the rising of the temperature such as El Nino phenomenon, amount of rainfall, number of rain days, Southwest and Northeast Monsoon seasons and others. Malaysia and Indonesia, located in the Southeast Asia region, have experienced severe pollution due to haze especially during drought seasons ever since 1980. Among the causes of this series of hazes affecting the region is mostly the industrial scale illegal of slash and burn practices, principally practised in Sumatera and Kalimantan. The main objective of this study is to investigate the carbon monoxide (CO) distribution over Malaysia and Indonesia, within the period from January 1980 to December 2018. This study utilizes MERRA-2 dataset provided by GIOVANNI interface. The monthly CO concentrations fluctuates highly, with the highest measurement observed during the drought season (June to October), meanwhile, the lowest observed are within the rainy season (November to March). The result of this study also shows that Kuala Lumpur, Riau, Palembang and West Kalimantan are the worst affected by CO pollution, especially during forest fires. During normal conditions, the CO value is below 200 parts per billion volume (ppbv). However, the CO concentration peaked as high as 15,208 ppbv during forest fire over Palembang in October 1997. The increment of CO concentration over this area is mostly due to the fire forests that commonly occurs during the drought season.
