Mining material of quarry (class-C) as one of the activities that utilize natural resources should be able to bringgood impacts to the community economy, but with the understanding of the community that is still said to be low. Some factors such as economic impetus, ignorance aspect, personal interests, political elements, the usage, the quarry brings more negative impact. This is due to the fact thatthere are no clear rules and no boundaries in operatingthe mining process. Reclamation is very difficult to do. The purpose of this research is to explain to the community ofthe dangers posed byquarry to the environment of thecommunity forest at Karang Sidemen Village North Batukliang District, Central Lombok. This research uses qualitative method of research and uses three methods of data collection, namely observation method, interviews, and documentation conducted in the village. This research uses four stages of data analysis, namely data collection, data reduction, display or presentation, and data verification. Theresults show that the understanding of the people about the dangers of class-C mining to the environment of the community forest in the village of Karang Sidemen is still low, due to low education level and based on economic drive factor.
Taman Ayu Village in Gerung, West Lombok District, has a prospect as an up-coming tourist area. It is unfortunate if the coastal sand mining activities damage the coastal regions. The research conducted aims to describe the level of understanding and attitude of the community towards the impact of mining illegally. This research method is descriptive, with a qualitative approach by using observation, in-depth interviews. The results of the study show that mining is carried out by the community, because of the need for beach sand for building materials, especially as the final content for making ornaments or home decorations. Coastal sand mining caused a decrease in the beach surface, potential disasters, and coastal abrasion. The positive impact of these activities is increasing the income of the mining community. The community has understood that sand mining activities cause damage to coastal areas, but due to economic demands, the community continues to carry out these activities. In tackling illegal mining on the central coast, the role and responsibility of the Government is integral. Banning and giving warnings in the form of installing warning boards around the mining site as well as providing specialized training for mining officials to provide an understanding to stop the mining activities.
Nowadays, Urban Heat Island (UHI) occurs in big cities worldwide. The UHI phenomenon needs to be introduced in school because this phenomenon occurs around the students. Surakarta, one of the big cities in Indonesia, has been threatened by the UHI phenomenon, so enrichment materials related to the UHI phenomenon are needed for students in schools. This research will develop the UHI e-module as an enrichment teaching material on the impact of global climate change and research on climate and its utilization. This paper aims to present an e-module development research methodology on UHI based on the phenomenon of UHI threats in Surakarta City and its effect on student achievement and collaboration skills. Design and Development Research (DDR) uses the Borg and Gall model. The methodology of the research development is divided into three phases: the needs analysis phase, the design and development phase, and the implementation and evaluation phases. The difference in this research is the geographical space-based study approach in the development of material based on the UHI phenomenon in Surakarta City and urban and rural spatial sampling techniques.
