The creation of Malay drama is getting a place in the hearts of the people, and almost everybody is watching the drama from childhood until the elderly. Various genres and works are presented to the public until they are mesmerized and play with their emotions. In this regard, this article analyses the scene in the Malay drama that presents the issue of building a magnificent and beautiful Mosque. This issue is rarely discussed by the scholar, while there is a specific hadith that deals with the ban on the construction of a decorated mosque with the purpose of riya’ (insincerity and pretentiousness). By applying the qualitative method, this article reviews on the hadiths used as a supporting argument in the Malay drama. The description includes an analysis of the status of the hadith and the debate of Islamic scholars. The study found that the medium of drama performance was recognised because of its ability to contribute good messages to the Muslim community. In addition, three hadiths representing the discussion are authentic. ABSTRAK Pembikinan drama Melayu semakin mendapat tempat di hati masyarakat, bahkan hampir semua golongan menonton drama bermula dari kanak-kanak sehingga warga emas. Pelbagai genre dan karya dipersembahkan dan dipertontonkan kepada masyarakat sehingga terpukau lalu bermain dengan emosi mereka. Sehubungan dengan itu, artikel ini menganalisis babak dalam drama Melayu yang mempersembahkan isu pembinaan masjid yang megah dan cantik. Isu ini agak jarang dibincangkan oleh sarjana, sedangkan terdapat hadis khusus yang membicarakan berkaitan larangan pembinaan masjid berhias dengan tujuan riyak. Dengan menggunakan metode kualitatif, artikel ini menganalisis hadis yang digunakan sebagai hujah penyokong dalam drama Melayu. Huraiannya merangkumi analisis status hadis serta perbahasan pandangan sarjana Islam. Kajian mendapati keberkesanan medium drama diiktiraf kerana kemampuannya dalam menyumbang mesej yang baik dan bermanfaat kepada masyarakat Islam. Selain itu, tiga buah hadis yang menjadi perbincangan adalah berstatus sahih.
The usage of hadith to deliver da‘wā messages as a new approach that need to be highlighted. However, the preaching of da‘wā through this medium needs to be refined, especially the authenticity of hadith used in Drama or Movie. Thus, this article discusses a relationship between hadith, as a second source of Islamic Law with the Malay Drama as one of a contemporary da‘wā methodology. The description covers the validity of the hadiths status and the harmony of its meaning with the storyline in the Drama. By adopting the qualitative analysis method, this article found some of the hadiths are Ṣaḥīḥ and Ḥasan Ṣaḥīḥ in Drama Tanah Kubur. Moreover, there was an episode that unrelated to the real meaning of the hadith. Hence, the finding of this article is important to prevent the society from being affected by the practices that not reflected from the Quran and al-Sunnah. Finally, this article presents recommendation and suggestion which can provide scientific knowledges for the Ministry of Home Affairs (KDN) and the National Film Development Corporation (FINAS) to outline the printed publication act and regulate the hadiths in Malay Drama. ABSTRAK Penggunaan hadis untuk tujuan menyampaikan mesej dakwah merupakan pendekatan baharu yang perlu diambil peluang. Namun, penyampaian dakwah menerusi medium ini perlu diperhalusi penggunaannya terutama yang melibatkan kedudukan hadis yang digunapakai dalam drama. Justeru, artikel ini membincangkan hubungan antara hadis sebagai sumber kedua perundangan Islam dengan drama Melayu sebagai metodologi dakwah kontemporari. Huraiannya merangkumi status kesahihan hadis yang digunakan dan keserasian makna hadis dengan jalan cerita dalam drama. Dengan menggunakan metode analisis kualitatif, artikel ini mendapati beberapa hadis yang terdapat dalam drama Tanah Kubur yang bertaraf Sahih dan Ḥasan Ṣaḥīḥ. Manakala dari sudut pendalilan pula didapati episod yang tiada kaitan dengan makna hadis yang sebenar. Dapatan daripada artikel ini dinilai sangat penting bagi mengelakkan masyarakat daripada terpengaruh dengan sesuatu amalan yang tidak ada sandaran daripada al-Quran dan al-Sunnah. Akhirnya, saranan dan cadangan yang dilontarkan dalam artikel ini dapat memberi suntikan ilmiah kepada Kementerian Dalam Negeri (KDN) dan Perbadanan Kemajuan Filem Nasional (FINAS) untuk menggariskan akta penerbitan bercetak dan mengawal selia hadis dalam drama Melayu.
