Conducted using PubMed and Google Scholar restricted from 2010-2020. The keywords used in the article search were elderly, reading the Qur'an, and cognitive function. Results: Reading the Qur'an has a significant impact on the cognitive function of the elderly. Results: This study used seven journals, where five journals were obtained from Google Scholar and two journals from PubMed. Conclusion: From several studies collected, it can be concluded that the longer the duration (>15 minutes) and the more regularly the elderly read the Qur'an, the better their cognitive function.
This article is qualitative-descriptive analytical research on multiple intelligences, a theory which Howard Gardner introduced. According to Howard Gardner's findings, the concept of multiple intelligences has been widely known and used in educational institutions. Multiple intelligences are also considered a theory that first recognized the diversity of human intelligence. With multiple intelligences, it can be said that no child is stupid. Therefore, each child is born with intelligence that is not always equal to each other. In Islam, the Quran is a complete guide for life. This research has discovered the powerful instruments to develop Qur'anic multiple intelligences in educational institutions through literature. With the thematic interpretation method (maudhui) approach, this study described the practical efforts, using the mindset of interpretation and reflection, to develop the concept of multiple intelligences based on the perspective of the Quran. After researching, collecting, and analyzing all terms in the Quran that relate to intelligence, it is found that the Quran is distinguishing the concept of multiple intelligences. It can be used further as a practical guide for educational institutions in developing the concept of multiple intelligences from the perspective of the Quran
Kuntowijoyo is widely-known in Indonesia as the propagator of pengilmuan Islam discourse, which he declared as an alternative discourse from the Islamization of knowledge that he sees as trivial and reactive. In this article, we would like to assess Kuntowijoyo’s comprehension of Islamization of knowledge to analyze the relevance of pengilmuan Islam as his alternative proposal to it, from his own words with references to primary and secondary references, and contrast it with the actual proposal of Islamization of knowledge from its original thinkers. The result is that while Kuntowijoyo openly declares his opposition to the term, he still acknowledges the need for the Islamization of knowledge in certain key parts of his writings while still being polemical. This article unveils his true view on the Islamization of knowledge and the problem lies with his understanding of the discourse, which is significant to the consequences in Islamic education that his discourse will lead to a false sense of Islamic development in knowledge
This study looks at the difficulties that IIUM postgraduate students have when memorizing the Qur'an and working at the same time during their studies. The goal of this study is to find out how IIUM postgraduate students balanced Qur'an memorization and working activities during their studies, to identify the difficulties they faced, and to find out how they balanced Qur'an memorization and working activities. A case study was used in this study to create a qualitative design. The data was collected via methodical triangulation, and the data was gathered through verbal interviews. Two postgraduate students from IIUM were chosen to be interviewed. Thematic analysis was used to examine the data. The keywords were determined once the data from the interviews were transcribed. The researchers then identified the theme for further investigation before analyzing the data. The findings revealed that these students value Qur'an memorization but that there is no timetable for memorizing the whole Qur'an due to their busy schedules.
The current understanding of sex has deviated from the normative values of Islam, where sexual activity outside of marriage has increased sharply. This is due to the emergence of a new sex culture called the 'hook-up culture', where a person engages in casual sex with the aim of fulfilling his own pleasure without any commitment. The development of the digital era has contributed to the growth of the hook-up culture and has become more real in modern human life. More specifically, after the presence of one of the most prominent dating applications, Tinder. This phenomenon shows the decline of human civilization. Whereas Islam as a religion of civilization describes sex as an element that forms human dignity and contributes to the formation of a quality civilization. This article tries to find a new conceptual framework in solving the problem of hook-up culture through an Islamic perspective. The research in this article explores the relationship between Tinder and hook-up culture and suggests Islam as a solution. The findings of this study indicate that the resolution that the ummah currently has in solving the problem of hook-up culture is still very specific in the discipline of Islamic studies, and needs further integration to overcome the problem of hook-up culture in society through exploring the key concepts of Islam and practical updates.
