The research aims to obtain varieties of red beans was tolerant oflow light intensity under this shade.The research implemented in the experimental garden UNWIM BojongSeungit campus, from late June to early September 2016, with a height of 850 meters above sea level and precipitation type C (Dampish ).The experimental design used was split plot design consisting of 16 treatments and 4 Deuteronomy .Treatment consists of two levels : size of the shade (P), p0 = 0%Shade, p1 = 50% Shade, p2 = 65% Shade, p3 = 75%Shade, and varieties (v), v1 = Garut and v2 = Tasik.The results of this experiment showed the effect of growth and different results in higher plants in shade 65% and 0% in the varieties of Garut and Tasik age 35 days after planting, number of leaves per plant and the number of branches per plant at 28 days after planting in the shade of 75%, the number of pods contents per plant and the number of pods per plant in the shade of 0% whereas 50% shade highest yield of dry grain weight per plant, weight of 100 grains of seed varieties Garut and percentage (%) number of pods per plant were highest in varieties Tasik Varieties of Garut and Tasik are sensitive to shade 75%, moderate to 65% shade and still tolerant to shade 50%.
English young learners’ ability in reading comprehension is considerably below teachers’ expectation. Many students still rely on direct translation technique in comprehending reading text. Various techniques were developed to improve young learners reading comprehension such as jigsaw reading. However, teaching young learners need to involve all the senses as multimodality offers. The aims of the current study were (1) to gain some description on the process of integrating multimodality and jigsaw reading technique in teaching reading comprehension to young learners; (2) to examine the students’ response on the utilizing multimodality and jigsaw reading technique at a private elementary school; and (3) to find out the difficulties faced by the teacher in applying the technique. This research involved a class of five grader of Al Azhar 18 Islamic elementary school in Cianjur. It applied qualitative approach. The instruments used were observation sheet, interview, and document analysis. The results showed that there are three steps in applying the chosen technique including preparation, practice, and evaluation. The students’ response positively to the technique, since it gives them chance to work in a group and ask things they don’t know to their peer, and are very excited with different media provided by the teachers. As for the teachers, the difficulties are more related to the time constraints in preparing the materials that should be very vary and handling the grouping with diverse level of English among the young learners.Keywords: multimodalities, reading comprehension, action research, English for young learners
Abstract. This research was conducted to determine the effect of concentration of Ethyl Methyl Sulfonate (EMS) to performance of three types of Phalaenopsis Planlets and to know the optimum concentration of EMS on any type of Phalaenopsis orchids. The experiment was conduc-ted at Tissue Culture Laboratory of the Faculty of Agriculture, Winaya Mukti University, Sumedang. It used a completely randomized design (CRD) with factorial pattern, that consisted of two factors and replicated twice.The first factor was the type of Phalaenopsis that resulted form hybridization which consisted of v1 (Phalaenopsis 717 X Phalae-nopsis Fire Bird), v2 (Phalaenopsis Tianong Rose X Sibling), and v3 (Phalaenopsis Luchia Pink X Phalae-nopsis Chain Xen Mammon). The second factor was the concentration of EMS that consisted of e0 (0% EMS/control), e1 (0,05% EMS), e2 (0,10% EMS), e3 (0,15% EMS), e4 (0,20% EMS), and e5 (0,25% EMS). Explant protocorm of three types of Phalae-nopsis soaked in a solution of EMS by each treat-ment for 3 hours, and cultured on MS medium Basal Modified Multiplication Shoot for 10 weeks. The experimental results showed that there are interaction between the three types of Phalae-nopsis result of a cross with a concentration of EMS to variable number of roots. Orchids P. 717 X P. Fire Bird had higher number of leaves, number of roots, leaf leang, and root length than the other. The result showed that there were interaction between three species of Phalaenopsis orchid from the crossing with EMS concentration on root variables. Orchid P. 717 X P. Fire Bird has the number of leaves, the number of roots, the number of shoots, leaf length and root length better than other types. EMS concentrations independently at all levels of treatment can not increase the number of leaves, the number of roots, fresh weight of planlet, leaf length, and root length.Keywords: Phalaenopsis, the concentration of EMS, in vitro cultureSari. Eksperimen menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) Pola Faktorial, yang terdiri atas dua faktor dan diulang sebanyak dua kali.Faktor pertama adalah jenis anggrek Phalaenopsis hasil persilangan yang terdiri atas tiga jenis, yaitu v1 (Phalaenopsis 717 X Phalaenopsis Fire Bird), v2 (Phalaenopsis Tianong Rose X Sibling), dan v3 (Phalaenopsis Luchia Pink X Phalaenopsis Chain Xen Mammon). Faktor kedua adalah EMS yang terdiri atas enam taraf perlakuan, yaitu e0 (0% EMS/kontrol), e1 (0,05% EMS), e2 (0,10% EMS), e3 (0,15% EMS), e4 (0,20% EMS), dan e5 (0,25% EMS). Eksplan berupa protocorm dari tiga jenis anggrek Phalaenopsis hasil persilangan yang direndam dalam larutan EMS berdasarkan masing-masing perlakuan selama 3 jam, dan dikulturkan pada media MS Modified Multiplication Shoot Basal selama 10 minggu.Hasil penelitian menunjukkan terjadi interaksi antara tiga jenis anggrek Phalaenopsis hasil persilangan dengan konsentrasi EMS terhadap variabel jumlah akar.Anggrek P. 717 X P.Fire Bird memiliki jumlah daun, jumlah akar, jumlah tunas, panjang daun dan panjang akar yang lebih baik dibandingkan jenis lainnya. Konsentrasi EMS secara mandiri pada semua taraf perlakuan tidak dapat meningkatkan jumlah daun, jumlah akar, bobot segar planlet, panjang daun, dan panjang akar.Kata Kunci: Phalaenopsis, Konsentrasi EMS, dan Budidaya In Vitro
Peanut, which is commonly planted in interculture and intercropping system, often suffers from shading caused by associated plants. This experiment aimed to study the effect of different shade levels of three peanut cultivars on the growth and seed yield, also to determine the shade-tolerant cultivar. A pot experiment was done at the Research Station of Agriculture Faculty Universitas Winaya Mukti since July until October 2016 by creating 50%, 65%, and 75% artificial shade levels during the lifetime of Tuban, Jepara, and Bima cultivars. The shade significantly affected on number of trifoliate leaves, number of branches, plant dry weight, yield components (number of pods, number of filled pods, and number of seeds), dry weight of pod, and seed weight per plant. The cultivar gave same effect on the growth and seed yield per plant. Based on Stress Tolerance Index (STI) analysis on the seed dry weight per plant, only Tuban cultivar showed great tolerance of 65% shade of natural light. Overall, the whole cutivars tested were sensitive on 75% shade level. ABSTRAKKacang tanah yang biasa ditanam pada sistem tumpangsari dan interkultur, sering ternaungi karena berasosiasi dengan tanaman lainnya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji pengaruh naungan yang berbeda pada tiga kultivar kacang tanah terhadap pertumbuhan dan hasil, serta mendapatkan kultivar kacang tanah yang toleran terhadap naungan. Percobaan pot dilakukan di kebun percobaan Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Winaya Mukti dari bulan Juli sampai dengan Oktober 2016. Perlakuan percobaan adalah perbedaan naungan (tanpa naungan, naungan 50%, 65% dan 75%) selama siklus hidup tiga kultivar tanaman kacang tanah (Tuban, Jepara dan Bima). Hasil percobaan menunjukkan bahwa naungan memengaruhi jumlah daun trifoliat, jumlah cabang, bobot kering tanaman, komponen hasil (jumlah polong, jumlah polong isi, dan jumlah biji), bobot kering polong dan bobot kering biji per tanaman. Kultivar memberikan efek yang sama terhadap pertumbuhan dan hasil per tanaman. Berdasarkan analisis Stress Tolerance Index (STI) terhadap bobot kering per tanaman, hanya kultivar Tuban yang toleran pada naungan 65%. Semua kultivar peka terhadap naungan 75%.
